Uponor is a very old (350 years) Swedish company with manufacturing facilities in Minnesota. The plant produces high quality PEX tubing which is used for plumbing and radiant heating.
What is PEX?
Polyethylene, cross-connected flexible tubing or plastic pipe.
How is PEX used for heating?
1. Install the tubing in a concrete floor, between floor joists, or under flooring using sleepers or spacers
2. Pump hot water through the tubing.
3. Enjoy the most efficient and comfortable heat available.
How is PEX used for plumbing?
1. Install a large main line with manifolds down the length of the house using 3/4, 1, or 1-1/2 inch PEX.
2. Run a continuous (no joints) line from an easy to access manifold directly to a fixture (i.e. sink, shower, or tub) using 3/8, 1/2 or 3/4 inch PEX.
3. Install fixtures normally.
4. Enjoy clean tasting, quiet water at full pressure for the rest of your life.
Why use Uponor PEX?
1. Uponor uses a patented method to cross-connect the plastic molecules, which make a stronger, more durable and tougher PEX.
2. When installed by a trained contractor, Wirsbo offers a 25 year warranty. Its expected life is more than 100 years.
3. Uponor makes its own tubing. Most companies selling PEX for floor heating buy it from another company and put their name on it. If some problem arose, only Wirsbo has to stand behind its product
4. Uponor has been making PEX tubing since 1970. They have sold over 2 BILLION FEET of tubing
5. Uponor is the market leading supplier of the PEX tubing used in the United States for floor heating.
